Told you about the busy. Making and decorating a card board boat takes oodles of time. Becca’s costume took twelve hours to make the house another six to paint. Then I still had to get her summer clothes out and pack her up for retreat. Guess I was too busy. I never sent Becca’s camp payment in and then didn’t know if we were still able to attend. When Becca heard me tell the rest of the boat crew that I didn’t know if we were going or not I quickly found out how important it was to her. I also knew if we couldn’t go I was not going to have a pleasant week ahead of me.
Well, they had held our spot and she went to Joni and Friends retreat in Michigan. I am really pleased to see how improved her communication skills are when she chooses/is able to use them. It is a tough call, sometimes it seems like it is Beca’s choice how well she communicates and other times she seems to be at the mercy of how her brain is functioning on a given day.
Well she did not need any verbal skills to get accross how she feels about horses. She has become very brave around them. Standing close, petting and hugging their necks. It was wonderful to see her improved mounting skills; sliding into that saddle as smoothe as silk. Last year it took five people using all their might to keep her from falling off the other side onto her head.

We have been busy and away. For the second year we entered a cardboard boat in the Glen Ellen Regatta. Becca and her friends help us (their parents and volunteer helpers) build and paint the boat. Then more able bodied friends sail it for them.
As you can see we choose a Wizard of Oz theme this year. We are re-using the house, road, costumes and flowers this Saturday as we have entered the “kids” on a July Fourth float. They are all so excited about their boat and float. To top it off we made it into the semi finals this year and tied for fifth place with the fireman’s boat. And the firemans entry this year, a bright shiney engine.
