About

Roland & Nancy
This is myself and my husband of thirty three years. I write the blog.
I started with great fear and trepidation and have been learning as I go. It still amazes me when I read some instruction and realize I actually now understand what they are telling me to do. Roland has been very supportive and allowed me to learn at my own pace. Plus he is there to unjam my computer when I really foul it up, to explain concepts that are new to me and to encourage me to go ahead and press the button. Could not have come this far without him.

Becca
Many of you already know this beauty. This is Becca, our youngest daughter. Becca has a twin sister and two older brothers. She also has three nieces and two nephews.
I started this blog as part of our fund raising strategy to get Becca’s story and her dreams out there where people could know about her and help her.
We have raised the amount needed for the training of her service dog. Her SD is in training right now and we will go for training in how to handle the dog this summer and to get certified for street access with her SD. Without street certification, the American with disabilities act does not guarantee you access to public places with your animal. We will most likely always be a three man team; Becca, Dog & mom or dad, since Becca’s disabilities limit her so severely that we do not expect her to ever learn to control the SD by herself.
We could still use help in defraying the costs of training estimated to be about three thousand. Any gifts for this are not tax deductible and would need to come to us; not go to 4paws. 4Paws also needs continued support for the ongoing work they preform on behalf of the handicapped. Donations to 4Paws are tx deductable.
We are continuing to keep people posted about our journey to obtain a SD for Becca and about how Becca is doing.
For me the blog has become more of a forum to challenge people to think about what life is really like for handicapped people they pass by in the stores, the library and other places. To remove some of the strangeness, to help you see not a weird kid/adult but someone who has probably overcome incredible odds. To realise in a small part the magnitude of challenges that person faces everyday. Too understand the mole hill may really be a mountain, and that a very little accomplishment can actually be a very huge success.
